Weekend shooting injures 2

A man and a woman were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning, police said Monday.

The shooting was initially reported around 3:20 a.m. near Second and Howard streets, according to police.

Officers learned that a man allegedly approached the victims and shot them. The victims, a 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

The suspect, described as a 27-year-old man, apparently fled the scene and officers were unable to immediately arrest him.
