Car crashes into residential building in Sunset District

Fire crews rescued two passengers from a car that crashed into a residential building in the Sunset District on Monday afternoon.

One adult was seriously injured and another suffered minor injuries when the vehicle crashed into the building at the corner of Taraval Street and 24th Avenue at around 3:26 p.m., according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

Both victims are expected to survive.

Fire officials said no one was injured inside the building.

Inbound and outbound L-Taraval trains were blocked at the intersection, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. The SFMTA sent shuttles to supplement service.

The Department of Building Inspection is expected to evaluate the structure.
