The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame inducted four new members Thursday, welcoming Tim Brown, Walter A. Haas Jr., Brent Jones and Dave Righetti to their ranks during a dinner at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.
Righetti was born and raised in San Jose, but spent 11 of his 16 seasons on the East Coast with the New York Yankees. He came back to the Bay Area to pitch for both the A’s and Giants before ending his playing career in 1995. In 2000, he rejoined the Giants as the club’s pitching coach just as they moved to what is now AT&T Park on the shores of McCovey Cove.

The Warriors’ surprising season came to an end Thursday night, as they fell to the San Antonio Spurs 94-82 at Oracle Arena, losing their Western Conference semifinal series 4-2.
Golden State’s offense disappeared during the previous two games of the series, and Game 6 was no different. The Warriors shot 38.8 percent as a team and turned the ball over 12 times. Stephen Curry was the only real highlight, scoring 22 points on 10-of-25 shooting, including 2-of-7 from behind the arc.

The Warriors’ offense was not good in their loss to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday. In past years, that was all previous Warriors teams had to rely on to win games.
Now, however, the poor shooting nights by Steph Curry and Klay Thompson — who played exceptionally well in the first two games of the series — was not what coach Mark Jackson wanted to focus on heading into the team’s first elimination game of the postseason.

The Warriors ensured they will play at least one more game at Oracle Arena this season after overcoming an eight point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the San Antonio Spurs 97-87 in overtime on Sunday.
With Stephen Curry hobbled by a sore ankle, the Warriors relied on their defense to hold the Spurs at bay, going on a 9-0 run to start overtime before San Antonio was able to answer. They scored only two points over the last 3:44 of regulation, as the Warriors closed out the game on a 19-5 run.

In March of last year, during a ceremony honoring former Warrior Chris Mullin, team owner Joe Lacob was booed loudly by a crowd dissatisfied with the trade that sent fan-favorite Monta Ellis to the Milwaukee Bucks for Andrew Bogut, who at the time was sidelined with an injury that kept him out of the remainder of that season.

The Warriors got a surprising cameo from David Lee and another big second half from Stephen Curry as the Warriors rallied to beat the Denver Nuggets 92-88 Thursday to win their first-round playoff series 4-2.
Lee was on the court for less than two minutes of game time in the first quarter, and Denver had its way early in the game, grabbing six offensive rebounds in the first quarter alone and running out to an 11-point lead midway through the second quarter.

In each game since Warriors forward David Lee was sidelined with a hip injury sustained in the team’s first playoff game, coach Mark Jackson has announced a lineup with the expected substitution: Carl Landry starting at power forward.
But instead of Landry taking the court with the starters, it has been Jarrett Jack starting at point guard, with the rest of the starters shifting positions for the opening minutes of each contest.

OAKLAND — Stephen Curry told television reporters before Sunday’s playoff game against the Denver Nuggets that the ankle he twisted in Game 2 of the series didn’t feel good at all.
By the end of the third quarter of the Warriors’ 115-101 win, it must have been difficult for anyone watching to believe him.
After attempting only three shots in the first half, the young guard scored 22 of his 31 points in the third quarter, powering a Warriors rally that quieted the Nuggets and helped give Golden State a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference first-round series.

The Warriors came out of Denver with their first-round playoff series with the Nuggets tied 1-1, but not without paying a price.
They recovered after losing All-Star forward David Lee for the remainder of the postseason with a torn hip flexor, but point guard Stephen Curry, burdened with carrying the offense in Lee’s absence, turned his ankle during the second half of the Warriors’ 131-117 win on Tuesday.

The first time Zack Hample went to a Major League Baseball game, as a 6-year-old at Yankee Stadium, he didn’t catch a baseball. That trend continued through most of his childhood, when he and his dad would often arrive late and leave early, and he has spent most of his adult life making up for lost time.

OAKLAND — One word was repeated by Warriors forward David Lee over and over on Thursday. When Stephen Curry used the same word in describing the team’s plan in their playoff series against the Denver Nuggets, which begins Saturday, it was clear the team knew how they want to approach what will be the first playoff game for most of them.
“We’re just going to go in there being aggressive,” Lee said. “The pressure stands on them that we’re the underdog, going to be aggressive on the road. That’s what we are going to do. We’re going to go out there and try to strike first.”

OAKLAND — The crowd at Oracle Arena on Monday knew they were watching Stephen Curry knock on the door of the record books as he nailed seven 3-pointers on his way to a 35-point night in the Warriors’ win over the San Antonio Spurs.
His seventh 3 of the game — which gave the home team a 107-89 lead with 5 minutes left in the game — caused the crowd to begin chanting his name. Warriors fans knew the young point guard needed just one more to tie Ray Allen’s single-season record of 269 made 3s, set during the 2005-06 season.
