A San Francisco native who plays for the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers was honored at Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting for his accomplishments.Desmond Bishop, 26, is a linebacker on the Packers, which won the NFL championship over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Feb. 6.Bishop is also a native of San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood with a large family still living in the area. A pedestrian was killed in Oakland tonight when he apparently jumped in front of an AC Transit bus, an agency spokesman said.Witnesses said the man intentionally leaped in front of the bus at about 6 p.m. in the 3600 block of Grand Avenue, near Mandana Boulevard, AC Transit spokesman Clarence Johnson said."It's very tragic, obviously," he said.Several passengers were on board at the time, but no other injuries were reported, Johnson said. He said the driver is being tested tonight for alcohol or drug use as a matter of policy.

Police seized about $300,000 worth of heroin in Oakland on Saturday -- the city's largest drug recovery in recent years, a police spokeswoman said.Officers recovered about 200 ounces of heroin, 2 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, 1 ounce of cocaine, a firearm, and $8,800 at the home of 35-year-old Isaac Perez, Officer Holly Joshi said.Joshi identified Perez as a "ringleader" of heroin trafficking operations from Mexico and said he has been the subject of an investigation headed by Officer Eric Karsseboom.

A man found dead in an apartment in San Francisco’s Lower Nob Hill neighborhood on Friday has been identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Jack Baker. Baker, 67, was found when officers responded to a request for a well-being check in the 1000 block of Bush Street at about 6:15 p.m. Friday, San Francisco police Sgt. A man suspected of rape in San Francisco's Hayes Valley this morning was already acquainted with the victim, according to police. Officers responded to the 1800 block of Market Street on the report of a suspected rape at about 3:35 a.m., according to police.They found a victim who said the alleged rapist was about 22 years old with a light complexion, weighing about 160 pounds and nearly 5 feet 10 inches tall.The suspect was wearing a gray button down shirt with a blue hat at the time of the rape, police said.
