The San Francisco General Hospital Foundation is accepting submissions for its annual “Hearts in San Francisco” public art and fundraising project.
Selected small works will be auctioned during the 2011 Heroes & Hearts luncheon, with proceeds benefiting efforts to enhance patient care. In addition, large works will be displayed in Union Square.
Submissions for large hearts should measure 5 feet tall, 5 feet 9 inches wide and 3 feet 3 inches deep. Tabletop-size hearts must be 14 inches tall, 17 inches wide and 8 inches deep.

Several key city offices are changing counter hours beginning July 1 due to budget constraints. Administrative services will operate 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 3 p.m. and by appointment. Police could be given another tool to deal with unacceptable behavior, under a November ballot measure Mayor Gavin Newsom will introduce today on sit-lie legislation at the Board of Supervisors meeting, spokesman Tony Winnicker said.
The measure will restrict sitting or lying on sidewalks citywide from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and provide access to social services for those who need it.
A warning must be given before a citation can be issued and exceptions will be made for free speech and assembly.

Legislation that would allow restaurants to open along 24th Street if they obtain a conditional-use permit goes before the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
Last week, Supervisor Bevan Dufty's legislation was passed by the Land Use and Economic Development Committee. Currently, a moratorium is in place for new restaurants. The Planning Commission supports the change.
