Daly City woman sentenced to prison in boiling water killing

A cold prison cell awaits this boiling temper. Jesusa Ursonal Tadad, 41, of Daly City was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison Wednesday after pleading no contest to charges that she poured a pot of scalding water on her ex-husband while he was sleeping. Mission man trying to chill out in the park attacked ‘for no reason’

Hanging out in the Mission is no picnic in the park, as one San Francisco man learned last night. A 48-year-old man told police he was sitting in Jose Coronado Playground at 21st and Folsom streets just before 7 p.m. when a man he did not know walked up and began punching him “for no reason.” The suspect, described as a man in his early 20s, bolted west on 21st and then south on Shotwell Street, police said. Man, woman shot in broad daylight

Two people were wounded, one critically, in a broad-daylight shooting in the Bayview Tuesday, police said. At about noon, police said, a 28-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were standing in the area of Westpoint and Middlepoint roads when an unknown gunman opened fire, striking the man multiple times, including in the torso. The woman was shot in the leg and is expected to survive. The man, who was driven to the hospital by a friend, was battling life-threatening wounds, police said. Chatty thief hits offices in South San Francisco, Burlingame

A prolific cellphone thief is apparently cashing in on the rising trend of thefts from offices. In the past two weeks, South San Francisco police reported, a crook posing as a customer has stolen from a furniture store, two dental offices and two auto dealers. The same suspect also has struck businesses in Burlingame three times since Feb. 27. The male suspect chats up employees and sticks around until they become distracted, then swipes iPhones and iPads from their desks, police said. Read More

Youngsters find it hard to buy cigarettes in San Mateo County

Scoring a pack of smokes apparently isn’t easy for underage kids in northern San Mateo County cities.A law enforcement operation on Saturday had underage decoys try to buy tobacco at 161 businesses in Millbrae, San Bruno, South San Francisco and Daly City.Only 14 of the merchants received citations for selling to minors, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.Among the cited were two Walgreens stores in Millbrae. Two known members of the notoriously vicious Taliban gang in East Palo Alto are being charged in connection with a shocking cellphone video in which they appear to be abusing a child, according to prosecutors. The video reportedly shows Wilbert Ard, 26, and Dwayne Henry, 20, using the loaded magazine of a handgun to shove a child who appears to be younger than 5 years old and then threatening to shoot him dead. San Francisco trio accused of armed robbery spree before officer-involved shooting

San Francisco residents Travell Council, 19, and Eddie Tillman, 18, along with a boy who was not named because he is a minor, have been connected to at least five separate criminal incidents across The City on March 4 and March 5 that culminated with an officer-involved shooting in Hunters Point. Among the incidents was the theft of a 2011 BMW from a mother who was parking her car with her 5-year-old in tow, according to police. Two Muni riders shot with one bullet

A shocking shooting inside a Muni bus on Easter wounded two people, police said, after a bullet that went straight through a man’s thigh struck a woman in the abdomen. Muni spokesman Paul Rose said he did not know if such an incident had ever occurred on the transit system before, and that 40 to 50 riders were on the bus at the time of the shooting. Man shot after house fight near high school

Five suspected thugs were arrested shortly after a shooting near a San Francisco high school Sunday night that left a 22-year-old man critically wounded. The unidentified victim walked into the emergency room of San Francisco General Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg at about 7:50 p.m., Officer Albie Esparza said. San Francisco police are investigating a homicide after finding a woman stabbed to death inside her home near 16th and Mission streets. 16-year-old beaten, grandma robbed in Mission

A 16-year-old’s tooth was knocked out and his 78-year-old grandmother was robbed of her purse Thursday night after two teenage punks attacked them in the Mission district, police said. The victims were reportedly walking on the sidewalk in the area of 24th and Capp streets at about 6 p.m. when the juveniles, described only as 16-year-old boys, began beating up the teenager.
