A gunman opened fire into a vehicle that was exiting a Western Addition parking lot Tuesday night, wounding a passenger, police said.
Police responded to Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center at about 9:30 p.m. on a report that a man had arrived with a gunshot wound to his leg. The 22-year-old was eventually transported to San Francisco General Hospital. He told police that he was riding in a car that was leaving a parking lot near Pierce and Turk streets when an unknown gunman walked up and opened fire.

Two youths pulled off a daunting escape from a San Francisco juvenile detention facility Tuesday night by reportedly squeezing through a square-foot-size window and making it over a 20-foot barbed-wire fence.
The boys, ages 12 and 16, escaped from the Juvenile Justice Center at 375 Woodside Ave. about 9:40 p.m. and were still on the loose Wednesday despite a thorough police search that lasted until 2 a.m., authorities said.

A thief in Belmont struck two electronics stores within minutes Monday afternoon, in each case asking a clerk to see a tablet computer before fleeing with the device in a getaway minivan.
The robberies at the RadioShack at 870 Ralston Ave. and the GameStop at 1200 El Camino Real occurred at about 3 p.m., according to Belmont police. At least three suspects were seen in the fleeing vehicle.

Bail was set at $3 million Tuesday for the man accused of shooting to death a 24-year-old neighbor last weekend during a dispute at their Nob Hill apartment complex.

A man was stabbed in the ear with an unloaded syringe and his beer was stolen during a vicious brawl with another man in the Tenderloin Monday, police said.
Police responded to Eddy and Jones streets at about 1 p.m. and found a 43-year-old man bleeding, with a puncture wound to his ear. The injury was minor and the victim refused medical attention, police said.

Poor grades apparently caused an Academy of Art University student to steal a bicycle from one of his school’s campuses, according to police.
The thief was reportedly captured on video March 26 swiping a Fuji bike from the campus at 601 Brannan St.
On April 4, police said, a “very observant” security guard spotted the suspect and identified him as a student.
“The thief said he stole the bicycle for financial reasons, because his financial aid was going to be cancelled due to poor grades,” police at Southern Station said.

Imagine being cooped up on a Muni bus with bloodthirsty, knife-wielding robbers. That’s what happened last weekend to a 22-year-old man who was riding the 28-19th Avenue bus on Doyle Drive toward the Golden Gate Bridge.
About 1 p.m. Saturday, police said, the victim was seated near the back of the bus when three thugs approached him and demanded his money.
They tried to reach into the 22-year-old’s pocket, Officer Gordon Shyy said, and the victim reportedly punched one of them.

A man was arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot a Bayview woman last week after her husband rejected his plan to start an underground street fighting operation.
At about 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the 1000 block of Innes Avenue on a call about a possibly armed man.
A 41-year-old woman reportedly told the officers that a man who just met her husband earlier that day had come to her home and threatened to “put a bullet in her head.”

Police Chief Greg Suhr has zapped a pilot project that would have armed 5 percent of The City’s police force with stun guns, arguing that the plan suggested by community members was so restrictive that officers saw no point in carrying the devices.
Suhr’s plan would have given 118 stun guns to officers who are specially trained to handle people who suffer from a mental illness. The devices are intended to immobilize people by delivering 50,000 volts of electricity.

The man accused of butchering and bludgeoning his friend more than 50 times with a knife and hammer in Pacifica last year pleaded not guilty to the murder charge Wednesday, according to prosecutors.
Marc Anthony Furlan, 24, allegedly killed 24-year-old Keith Coffey on Oct. 17.
The slaying occurred at Furlan’s father’s home on Dell Road and was preceded by an argument, although the motive remains under investigation. Mental illness might have played a factor, as Furlan had previously been enrolled in mental health court, according to The Daily Journal.

A fleeing burglary suspect who has apparently watched too many action films hopped onto the roof of a moving vehicle last week in the Excelsior district, hollering at the driver through the sunroof to “speed up,” police reported.
But instead of barely escaping the law, the suspect was arrested after reportedly being thrown off the car on Alemany Boulevard when the driver sped up for a short distance and then slammed on the brakes.
James Pace, 34, was not seriously injured after hitting the ground, but was nabbed by cops after a foot chase.

A man who got into an spat over money with a Tenderloin stripper early Wednesday was jumped by 15 men and robbed, according to police.
The argument between the 46-year-old man and a female dancer in her early 20s reportedly began in the New Century strip club at 816 Larkin St. at about 3 a.m. The spat then continued on the 700 block of O’Farrell Street, Officer Albie Esparza said.
During the fracas, the man became enraged when the dancer began videotaping him on her cellphone, Esparza said.
