After he was shot with a pellet gun, a private security guard monitoring an upscale San Francisco neighborhood on Monday night reportedly unleashed a real gun on a car containing two suspected auto burglars.
No one was seriously injured in the wild shootout involving the 29-year-old guard, who told police he returned fire believing he might have been been shot by a bullet from a small-caliber gun, Officer Gordon Shyy said.

Police are hunting for heartless goons who threatened and robbed a mother carrying her 2-year-old son in the parking lot of the Target store in Daly City last week.
The victims, a family of four San Francisco residents, had been walking back to their car at about 7:45 p.m. on Thursday when the passenger of a green sedan demanded money from the mother, Daly City police said Monday.
When the mother said she didn’t have money, two men reportedly got out of the car and one of them reached for his pocket as if fetching his gun, although a gun was not seen.

Something smelled funky at Joe's Crab Shack this morning - and it wasn't seafood.
A large amount of what appears to be marijuana was found in the dumpster at the seafood eatery at Fisherman’s Wharf, police said.
Someone at the restaurant at 245 Jefferson St. called police after finding “three big garbage bags, maybe 50 pounds,” filled with marijuana, Central Station police Capt. Garret Tom said.
No further information was immediately available, Tom said, as the investigation has only just begun.

The man accused of stabbing another man in the ear with a syringe in the Tenderloin Monday was not only trying to steal malt liquor, as stated by the victim.
“I stuck him with it because he shot up all my heroin,” 43-year-old suspect Ronald Brian Morgan told police, it was reported Friday.
The gruesome syringe attack that left a man bleeding from the ear reportedly occurred at about 1 p.m. in the 300 block of Ellis Street.

An 18-year-old woman who was robbed of her cellphone in the mid-Market district Thursday night reportedly offered the thief cash for the return of the device. She then had both her phone and money stolen, police said.
The heartless robbery was reported at about 10:15 p.m. in the area of Sixth and Market streets.
The teenager said a woman in her 40s who was accompanied by a man in his 20s had asked her to borrow her phone. The victim refused, police said, and so the suspect hit her and took the phone.

A man who stabbed his drinking buddy three times in the neck during an argument last Fourth of July over who was “more of a man” was sentenced Thursday to four years in state prison.
Roberto Miron Romero, 31, of East Palo Alto, pleaded no contest to felony assault and other charges in connection with the senseless assault at Bell Street Park in his city.
On that day, according to prosecutors, Romero, the 20-year-old victim and a friend shared two 12-packs of beer over several hours before the pissing match erupted.

Robert E. Graves, 66, of Nob Hill pleaded not guilty Thursday to fatally shooting 24-year-old neighbor Geoffrey Greer last weekend during an early morning dispute.
Graves remains in custody on $3 million bail in connection with the Saturday killing in the 1100 block of Pacific Avenue. He appeared for his arraignment Thursday morning in an orange jail uniform, with wavy, disheveled gray hair and thick, black-rimmed prescription glasses. Greer’s family also appeared, but declined to talk.

A 12-year-old boy who escaped from a San Francisco juvenile detention facility by apparently squeezing through a square-foot-size window Tuesday night was taken into custody at his home in The City on Thursday, Chief Probation Officer William Siffermann said.

A week after the Police Department abandoned another attempt to provide stun guns for some officers, a cop reportedly shot and killed a hammer-wielding man Wednesday night who had stabbed his brother-in-law.
Officers responded to a vicious family dispute in the 900 block of De Haro Street at about 9:40 p.m. after the suspect, 60-year-old Dale Wilkerson, dialed 911 to report that he had just done the stabbing.
“A second male voice was heard in the background pleading for help,” Officer Gordon Shyy said.

A student was being questioned in connection with a stun gun incident at a Portrero Hill school Wednesday, one day after the campus was locked down on reports that a 14-year-old had a gun.
Just before 9 a.m., police said, officers responded to the International Studies Academy at 655 De Haro St. on reports that a male student had been zapped with a stun gun.
Police learned the student had been zapped on the wrist during a playful tussle with a female student, who had allegedly brought the device onto campus, police Sgt. Dennis Toomer said.
