Man charged in connection with sexual assault in San Francisco

Jovan Jones, the man arrested last weekend for allegedly breaking into a Telegraph Hill apartment and sexually assaulting a woman, will be arraigned this afternoon, Assistant District Attorney Alex Bastian said. The 25-year-old from Marin City reportedly forced his way into the 26-year-old woman’s apartment about 8 p.m. Saturday as she was returning home, Sgt. Michael Andraychak said. Man accused of DUI after Mission cop car collision

A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in the Mission district Monday after he collided head-on with a police cruiser, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. The 22-year-old suspect was driving at a high rate of speed westbound on 19th Street about 12:48 a.m. when he struck the cruiser near Mission Street. The officer was hospitalized but quickly released with injuries not considered life-threatening, Esparza said. Read More

Hot-tempered woman allegedly torches room on Polk Street

Police arrested Ashley Dickstein, 26, of San Francisco, on Sunday after she reportedly set her hotel room on fire during a spat with her lover,  spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. Police responded to the 2000 block of Polk Street about 10:55 p.m. after Dickstein and her boyfriend got into a brawl, during which she bit him and he called police, Esparza said. A fire was burning in the room, but it was quickly extinguished by the hotel’s sprinkler system and a hose in the hallway. Read More

San Francisco parking lot scam suspect finds spot in jail

A suspected phony parking lot attendant is now parked in a real jail cell, police said Wednesday. George Gerald Anderson, 50, of San Francisco, was arrested last weekend after reportedly claiming to be a parking lot attendant and charging a tourist to park in a lot at Bay and Kearny streets. It was not Anderson’s first run-in with the law, police said, or his first time impersonating a parking lot attendant. Read More

19-year-old shot in leg in Western Addition

A man was shot in the leg in the Western Addition on Monday, police said. The 19-year-old victim was in the 1300 block of Ellis Street when the shooting happened about 6:25 p.m. No suspects have been identified. The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening. Read More

Pair of bullies swipe victim’s food stamps at 16th and Mission streets

A 66-year-old man was punched in the face and robbed of his food-stamp card in the Mission district Monday, police said. The victim was sitting on a bench around 16th and Mission streets about 10:30 p.m. when a woman in her 30s tried to take his card from him, cops said. A struggle ensued and a man in his 30s jumped in and punched the victim in the face. The heartless crooks fled with the victim’s food-stamp card. No arrests have been made. Read More

Alleged copper thief gets coppers’ attention in SoMa

A man was arrested on suspicion of copper theft in South of Market on Saturday, police said Tuesday. Michael David O’Keefe, 55, was apprehended about 5:30 a.m. after he was seen running from an open PG&E manhole in the 1600 block of Folsom Street, police said. He was reportedly found with high-voltage copper wires estimated to be worth about $90. Police also detained a second suspect. Read More

Arrest made in burned girlfriend case

The man suspected of dousing his girlfriend with gasoline over a laundry dispute was arrested late Monday. Officers from the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Investigations Division and the U.S. Marshal’s Service took Dexter Oliver into custody at an Oakland hotel after receiving information as to his whereabouts. S.F. woman allegedly burned by boyfriend still critical but expected to survive

The woman doused with gasoline and set on fire by her angry boyfriend in the Bayview district Sunday afternoon remains in critical condition but is expected to survive, police said Monday. A 32-year-old mother was carrying her baby in the area of Mission Street and Richland Avenue near Glen Park about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday when a man approached and asked her for the time, police said. Before the woman could answer, the goon punched her in the face, snatched her cellphone and fled in a black SUV, police said. Read More

No fare at all. A 28-year-old cabdriver was flagged down by a man in his 20s at Second and King streets about 5 a.m., police said. The man got into the cab and ordered the driver at gunpoint to get out. The driver complied and the man fled in the cab. Read More

Occupy protester Jesse Nesbitt faces trial over brick allegations

The City is throwing the book at an Occupy San Francisco protester accused of throwing bricks at fellow activists, the District Attorney’s Office said Thursday. Mitchell Hoyt, 23, pleaded not guilty Thursday to seven charges related to stalking his ex. He was arrested inside her San Francisco apartment Tuesday, authorities said. According to a police report, Hoyt and his girlfriend broke up in September after he punched her in the face. She then got the protective order to keep him away. Read More
