A man was shot in the ankle in the Bayview district early Thursday, police said.
The 23-year-old victim had just left a friend’s house in the area of Osceola Lane near George Court about 1:30 a.m. when he heard gunshots, police Sgt. Daryl Fong said. The victim felt a sharp pain in his ankle and realized he had been shot.
A relative took the man to the hospital, but his injury was minor, police said. Cops spoke to the victim at the hospital, but he was uncooperative — even seeming uncertain of the shooting location.

A man was startled awake by burglars in the Crocker Amazon neighborhood Wednesday, police said.
The 37-year-old victim was asleep at his home in the 100 block of Baltimore Way about 9:20 a.m. when he heard strange noises from his living room, police Officer Albie Esparza said. When he went to investigate, he saw two men standing in his living room.
The unarmed burglars demanded the man give up his wallet, which he did, Esparza said. One of the crooks also took a cellphone and MP3 player.

A woman was attacked in an apparent hate crime on a Muni bus in the Potrero Hill neighborhood Tuesday, police said.
Police arrived about 1:50 p.m. and found the 26-year-old victim visibly upset and shaken. She told police she was just sitting on the bus when a woman who was standing over her suddenly began punching her in the face.

The boy reportedly injured two 14-year-old girls when he struck them with a closed fist in the 500 block of Kelly Avenue about 12:46 p.m., police said. Police located the boy nearby and he appeared to be intoxicated. He was taken to a hospital. In a case of road rage eerily reminiscent of urban legend, a man was threatened at gunpoint early Sunday morning in San Mateo for flashing his high beams at the armed driver, police said.
The victim was on state Highway 92 about 12:05 a.m. when he was passed by a newer-model black Mercedes sedan with its high beams on, police said. The victim reportedly flashed his high beams when the Mercedes passed, then exited the freeway at Alameda De Las Pulgas.

The 34-year-old victim was walking in the area of Seventh and Minna streets around 11:10 p.m. when the suspects pulled up in a silver Nissan sedan and got out, police said. The 29-year-old victim was walking in the 100 block of San Bruno Avenue about 10:30 p.m. when three people drove up to him in a green Ford Expedition, police Officer Carlos Manfredi said. One suspect brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s belongings, police said. The victim turned over his cellphone, cash and watch and the trio fled in the SUV. Later, police impounded a vehicle that matched the description of the suspects’ SUV, Manfredi said.
