Victim hammered by his own mallet

The victim dropped the hammer and the suspect hit him with it. A man was accused of theft and hit over the head with his own hammer in an aggravated assault Tuesday in the mid-Market area, police said. The 56-year-old victim was accused by another man, 51, of stealing his credit cards in the 800 block of Market Street about 9:40 p.m., police said. The victim dropped his bag and a mallet fell out. The accuser grabbed the mallet and chased the victim, police said, before hitting the victim several times in the head with it. Read More

Pizza delivery guy robbed, carjacked in Bayview

A pizza delivery guy was robbed and carjacked Tuesday in the Bayview, police said. The 46-year-old victim was making a delivery at McKinnon Avenue and Mendell Street about 10:50 p.m. when a man in his 20s held him up at gunpoint, police said. The delivery man turned over his wallet, keys and cellphone and the gun-toting goon and two accomplices, also men in their 20s, jumped into the victim’s car and fled, police said. Good Samaritan assaulted after breaking up a fight in Tenderloin fueled by anti-gay slurs

A gay man who says he witnessed another man being beaten and taunted with anti-gay slurs in a Tenderloin liquor store became a victim himself after he called police. Leo Volobrynskyy, 30, a San Francisco resident originally from Odessa, Ukraine, is now missing a tooth and has at least 14 stitches in his mouth after an incident at a liquor store near Geary and Larkin streets, he told The San Francisco Examiner on Sunday. When Steven “Eriq” Escalon’s family saw him at a cousin’s wedding in his hometown of Clovis on June 9, they had no idea it would be the last time. Escalon, 28, was found dead in his San Francisco apartment four days later about 6:20 p.m. in a case police are investigating as a homicide. Two people were killed in a shooting in Silver Terrace on Wednesday night, police said. The victims were identified as Allen Vance, 39, and Chastity Dollison, 20, both of San Francisco. Vance and Dollison were sitting in a car with another person at Silver Avenue and Elmira Street about 10:20 p.m. when two men approached the driver’s side window and fired multiple shots into the car, police said. Tips sought after man found dead in Diamond Heights

A man was killed in Diamond Heights on Tuesday, police said. The 27-year-old victim was found by cops on the 5000 block of Diamond Heights Boulevard about 6:20 p.m. Authorities attempted to resuscitate the victim but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Wednesday, there was no known suspect and the Medical Examiner’s Office would not identify the victim until his family was notified. Read More
