U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin is touring two hospitals in San Mateo County on Tuesday to learn about their work with minority communities and their use of electronic medical records.
Benjamin will first visit the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame from 11:15 a.m. to noon to learn about the hospital’s African American Community Health Advisory Committee, county officials said.
She will also speak to about 250 community leaders about the power and importance of local collaboration.
Benjamin will then head to the San Mateo Medical Center, where she will meet with county health officials and learn about the Innovative Care Clinic’s use of electronic health records.
