Union Square shoplifters pepper spray three people

Three people were pepper sprayed after trying to confront a trio of teenage female shoplifters in a store near Union Square on Tuesday night, according to police.

The trio entered a store at 9:45 p.m. near Powell and Market streets and began to steal items. When they left the store, they were confronted by three people. One of the suspects pepper sprayed the three people who were trying to stop the shoplifters.

All of the suspects then fled, but police were shown by a witness who the suspects were. Police arrested three 15 year olds.

The three victims, a man in his 20s, another in his 30s and a female in her 30s, were treated at the scene.
