Two men killed in pair of double shootings on same Bayview block

A pair of shootings on a single block in the Bayview killed two men and injured two others on Saturday, according to police.

The first round of shots rang out at around 2:18 a.m. on La Salle Avenue between Newhall and Phelps streets, police said Monday.

A 24-year-old man was shot and killed. A 21-year-old man was taken to the hospital with injuries considered life threatening.

Police said the men suffered gunshot wounds to the torso, and described the suspects as three men in their 20s.

That night at around 8:09 p.m. at Newhall Street and La Salle Avenue, a 49-year-old man was shot in the torso and died. A 27-year-old man was shot in the wrist and is expected to survive.

Police said the suspect is an unidentified man.

A police spokesperson did not immediately have further information on the homicides.

The Medical Examiner’s Office could not immediately be reached to confirm the identities of the victims.

No arrests have been made in either case.
