Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch and The Wronglers with Jimmie Dale Gilmore are among the dozen Hardly Strictly Bluegrass regulars who will play at a tribute concert Sunday for Warren Hellman, the Bay Area philanthropist and festival founder who died late last year.
The free concert will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Great Highway at Ocean Beach, between John F. Kennedy Drive and Lincoln Avenue. Performances will alternate between two stages.
The lineup also includes Poor Man’s Whiskey, John Doe, Kevin Welch, Kieran Kane and Fats Kaplin, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Buddy Miller, Boz Scaggs, Old Crow Medicine Show, Robert Earl Keen and The Go to Hell Man Clan.
The Bay Bridge will be closed this weekend, and organizers said parking would be scarce, so they encourage concertgoers to use public transportation. The concert area opens at 8 a.m. The event will also be streamed live at www.StrictlyBluegrass.com.
