A train injured one of two people who attempted to cross the tracks just north of the San Bruno Caltrain station Wednesday evening, causing a number of delays of up to 37 minutes to other trains, officials said.

Around 5:30 p.m., a man and a woman went around the lowered crossing gates and tried to pass in front of the No. 369 train, according to Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn.

The woman made it across the tracks but the man was clipped by the train and suffered a broken leg and lacerations. Dunn said he was transported to an area hospital.

Officials reported that the lights and bells on the gates were functioning during the incident.

After an investigation of the scene, the tracks reopened to trains just after 6 p.m.
