Two youths pulled off a daunting escape from a San Francisco juvenile detention facility Tuesday night by reportedly squeezing through a square-foot-size window and making it over a 20-foot barbed-wire fence.
The boys, ages 12 and 16, escaped from the Juvenile Justice Center at 375 Woodside Ave. about 9:40 p.m. and were still on the loose Wednesday despite a thorough police search that lasted until 2 a.m., authorities said.

The hunt for a San Francisco juvenile hall escapee wearing “glittery” clothing continued Thursday with little success, according to police.
About 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, the flashy-clothed and unnamed fugitive was being transported to the San Francisco Youth Guidance Center after his extradition from San Bernardino, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said. As the vehicle he was in pulled into the facility, the boy reportedly bolted.

A kitchen fire at a San Francisco juvenile detention center on Tuesday night caused more than $100,000 in damage, a fire department spokeswoman said today.The one-alarm fire was reported at 8:09 p.m. at the Youth Guidance Center at 375 Woodside Ave. near Twin Peaks, which also contains courtrooms.
