Tablet thieves' new strategy not modern

Call it the iDash.  A thief in Belmont struck two electronics stores within minutes Monday afternoon, in each case asking a clerk to see a tablet computer before fleeing with the device in a getaway minivan.  The robberies at the RadioShack at 870 Ralston Ave. and the GameStop at 1200 El Camino Real occurred at about 3 p.m., according to Belmont police. At least three suspects were seen in the fleeing vehicle. maldax@sfexaminer.com Read More

Man’s tablet computer ripped off by ruffian

A man was robbed of his tablet computer Monday at the temporary Transbay Terminal, police said. About 8:15 p.m., the 27-year-old was reading from the computer at the terminal at Beale and Howard streets when a thief tried to grab it from his hands. A struggle ensued, but ultimately the suspect overpowered the victim and fled north on Beale Street. The victim was not injured. Read More
