Snow expected to blanket Sierra, Tahoe for holiday week

What a difference a year makes. In 2011, Lake Tahoe ski resorts were struggling to make enough snow to open for winter sport enthusiasts by Thanksgiving, but this year they are getting help from Mother Nature. By Sunday night, resorts in Lake Tahoe could see as many as 2 feet of new snow as two storms move through the area, according to National Weather Service forecaster George Cline. Kahrau family learns to bond on the slopes

Bill Kahrau’s 1968 divorce left him with sole custody of his six children, ranging in age from 15 months to 13 years. As the lone parent in the household, Kahrau relied on his passion for skiing to bond with the kids and provide a recreational outlet for the family.
