The St. Ignatius girls’ basketball team probably thought there wasn’t much more pressure than playing against its rival in a full-to-the-rafters college gymnasium.Then it ran into Sacred Heart Cathedral’s defensive scheme.With a sell-out crowd cheering it on, Sacred Heart Cathedral stifled St. Ignatius’ shooting and beat the Wildcats 46-41 Tuesday night in a West Catholic Athletic League matchup at a packed War Memorial Gym at USF.

The visiting Sacred Heart Cathedral boys’ soccer team overcame a red card, an injury and a steady stream of St. Ignatius offensive pressure to emerge with a 0-0 draw in a bruising West Catholic Athletic League game on Thursday at J.B. Murphy field.
Fightin’ Irish coach Jeff Wilson felt the draw was an indication of the team’s growth this season.

Stephen Domingo’s exit from St. Ignatius has been rumored for at least a year and the San Francisco native made it official Tuesday when his parents told the school’s administration that he would be enrolling early at Georgetown University, where he committed to play in May.
