A 17-year-old Lowell High School student was struck and killed by an alleged drunken driver late Saturday night on Sloat Boulevard, a roadway that has been earmarked for safety improvements.

A hammer-wielding thug attacked a 37-year-old man after a dispute in the Outer Sunset district on Wednesday, police said.The victim told cops the thug “made a derogatory gesture at him” in the 2500 block of Sloat Boulevard around 7:40 a.m. The victim got out of his car to confront the suspect, who was in his early 40s, police said.The suspect whipped out a hammer and struck the victim in the left ear, police said.
