Seth Smith homered and scored three times, Bartolo Colon pitched seven strong innings for his first win in nearly a month and the A’s beat the Texas Rangers 9-2 on Monday night.
Colon, who turns 40 on Friday, gave up two runs on six hits and struck out three. It was the first win for Colon (3-3) since April 23 at Boston.

BOSTON — Aside from the terrible weather, things really couldn’t have gone any better for the A’s on Tuesday.
The A’s ended a four-game losing streak with 13 runs, 13 hits and seven brilliant innings by a seemingly ageless Bartolo Colon in cruising to a 13-0 win over the Boston Red Sox. The game was called after seven innings following an entire night of rain and wind.

On a scorching hot day in Minnesota, the A’s bats were again reflective of the weather. For the second day in a row, the A’s blasted four home runs, completing a three-game sweep of the Twins with a 9-4 win on Sunday.
Leading 2-1 in the second, the A’s hit three homers in the inning off Twins starter Brian Duensing (1-5), breaking the game open early.

Seth Smith accounted for the lone run with a solo homer and Tommy Milone pitched seven strong innings as the visiting A's clipped Erasmo Ramirez and the Seattle Mariners 1-0 on Monday night.
Ramirez (0-2) struck out 10 and allowed only three hits in the best start of his career, but made one mistake, leaving a first-pitch fastball up in the second inning to Smith. The A's slugger blasted it to straightaway center for his eighth homer of the season.
