As the last team standing in 2012, the Giants already had a short offseason. Cutting even further into that break is the World Baseball Classic, which nine Giants players will be participating in.
The WBC, which was played for the first time in 2006, then again in 2009, will hold the semifinal and championship games at AT&T Park in March after pool play takes teams all over the world, from Japan to Puerto Rico.

San Francisco Giants pitcher Sergio Romo stood in front of the langur exhibit at the San Francisco Zoo on Thursday watching the monkeys jump around.
“Surely energetic, like myself,” Romo said. “That is how I am in the dugout.”
Romo was at the zoo for a surprise meeting with the staff and to meet the baby langur that was born in October during the Giants’ playoff series against the Cincinnati Reds. It was named Romo after an online vote.

Darrel Dominguez and his brother Dee missed the 2010 World Series parade, but they weren’t going to let that happen again. This time, the brothers traveled nearly 1,100 miles by plane, car and train to get to the corner of Market and Main streets by 6:30 a.m. Wednesday for the parade’s 2012 edition.
“We moved to Albuquerque in 2009, and in 2010 they go and win the World Series,” said Darrel Dominguez, who still lives in Albuquerque, N.M. “That was heartbreaking.”
The Dominguez brothers were among the hundreds of thousands of fans who descended upon San Francisco for the second parade in three years.
