Marijuana grow house operators ordered to pay PG&E restitution

A judge has ordered busted illegal marijuana cultivators to pay Pacific Gas & Electric Co. tens of thousands of dollars for bypassing the electric meters at their grow houses in Daly City and Oakland.Mon Chi Chan, 32, owes the utility company $42,000 and Menh Voong, 36, owes $13,117 after pleading no contest to charges related to grow house raids in June 2009, according to prosecutors. Peninsula marijuana growers being weeded out, but budget cuts threaten policing

Cmdr. Marc Alcantara of the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force showed a visitor photographs of marijuana bales being hoisted by helicopters onto pickup trucks. Pot scent tips off deputies to grow house in San Carlos

The strong smell of marijuana emanating from a warehouse led San Carlos authorities to an illegal marijuana-growing house and law enforcement officials were able dismantle the operation.On Friday, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office conducted a routine building inspection of a property in the 900 block of Terminal Way following a number of complaints from neighbors about the odor.
