Mayor Ed Lee busts spending cap in SF mayor’s race

The nine publically financed candidates in the mayor’s race agreed to not spend more than $1.475 million. But if third-party groups and non-public financing candidates spend more than that cap, then it is raised. That’s what happened Wednesday thanks to spending in support of Mayor Ed Lee.
