Water levels have risen slightly in Half Moon Bay’s Pillar Point Harbor on Friday morning, but no damage has been reported there or anywhere else in the Bay Area as the region waits for possible tsunami waves to come ashore.Surges of water as high as 2 or 3 feet were expected to arrive at the region’s coastal areas around 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

A Southern California surfer who nearly drowned in the ocean off of Half Moon Bay on Saturday remained in critical condition this afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.Jacob Trette was airlifted to Stanford University Medical Center after he was caught in the surf by a 20-foot wave at Mavericks at about 10 a.m., Coastside Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Ari Delay said.
