Women targeted in string of violent robberies

Women were targeted in a series of violent robberies on San Francisco’s streets during the last 24 hours. A 23-year-old woman was punched in the face during a struggle for her iPhone in the Potrero Hill neighborhood around 6:15 p.m., police said. Water main valve breaks, shoots geyser in air

A 2-inch valve on a water main broke Thursday morning in San Francisco’s Outer Mission neighborhood, creating a geyser of water that could be seen by commuters on a BART train traveling on nearby tracks, a San Francisco Public Utilities Commission spokeswoman said.The broken valve was reported around 7:45 a.m. near the intersection of Alemany Boulevard and Niagara Avenue, SFPUC spokeswoman Suzanne Gautier said.
