A three-hour standoff between police and Occupy SF demonstrators at Justin Herman Plaza on Wednesday night ended with cops leaving the site about 9 p.m., appearing to be outnumbered by the group of several hundred people.

About 70 Occupy SF protesters were arrested after San Francisco police raided the encampment at Justin Herman Plaza early Wednesday.
Police in riot gear hauled away more than 100 tents after protesters were told to clear the plaza just after 1 a.m. Most of the protesters complied, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. Campers at the Occupy SF tent city are preparing to mount their last stand after city officials set a deadline of noon today to evacuate Justin Herman Plaza.
During a meeting Wednesday with representatives of the camp, Department of Public Works Director Mohammed Nuru gave them the news.
