Rookie Tommy Milone pitched eight innings, allowed two hits and a run, struck out five and walked only one batter as the A’s beat the Minnesota Twins 5-1 on Wednesday, hours after starting pitcher Bartolo Colon was suspended 50 games by baseball for testing positive for testosterone.
Milone (10-9)
became the second pitcher on the staff to notch double-digit victories and the win ended a personal three-game losing streak.

Exactly one week after Melky Cabrera crushed Giants fans, A’s pitcher Bartolo Colon received a 50-game suspension of his own for also testing positive for synthetic testosterone.
Colon’s suspension isn’t as devastating, at least symbolically, for the A’s. They have more than enough arms in their rotation.

CHICAGO — Lanky left-hander Chris Sale continued his quest toward his first 20-win season, striking out 11 and scattering six hits as the Chicago White Sox topped the visiting A’s 7-3 on Sunday.
In his third outing of 10 or more strikeouts this season, Sale (14-3) once again was nothing short of outstanding, giving up just two solo home runs while not allowing a walk to the A’s (61-53).

OAKLAND — When it’s a warm day game, balls fly out of the Oakland Coliseum as easily as they would in Coors Field. But it was the A’s who got the clutch base hits that made the difference.
Yoenis Cespedes hit the go-ahead two-run single and Chris Carter added a two-run homer in the sixth inning for the A’s, who edged the Los Angeles Angels 9-8 on Wednesday afternoon.
