While it’s not the NCAA Tournament, the Stanford men’s basketball team will be playing in the postseason, and in a familiar setting.
A year after winning the NIT, the Cardinal (18-14) will look to defend their title this time around and earn another trip back to Madison Square Garden.
Coach Johnny Dawkins’ squad earned a No. 4 seed in the tournament and will host Stephen F. Austin (27-4) at Maples Pavilion on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Reggie Moore scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half as Washington State pulled away from a one-point halftime lead for an 89-75 victory over the Dons on Tuesday in the first round of the CBI at War Memorial Gymnasium.

While neither the Stanford nor USF men’s basketball teams reached the NCAA Tournament, both schools advanced to postseason tournaments.
Stanford (21-11) drew a No. 3 seed in the NIT and will host Cleveland State at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the first time the Cardinal have played beyond the regular season in three years. The winner of that matchup will take on the Mississippi-Illinois State winner.
