The people who fought tooth and nail to preserve the North Beach Library certainly get an “A+” for their effort. The State Historic Resources Commission recently upheld a request from six months ago to get the 1950s era building on the National Register. Now state historians are sending a recommendation to Washington D.C. for consideration. The application was filled out by Friends of Appleton & Wolfard – friends of a defunct local architecture firm that designed the building.
