A huge drop in narcotics arrests citywide does not seem to have affected the overall rate of violent crime in The City, which has some observers calling into question traditional police philosophy linking drug activity and violence. Police statistics show a 25 percent drop in drug arrests this year over last, and a 6 percent decrease in overall violent crime. Victims of violence after 49ers-Raiders game in serious condition

Two men remained hospitalized in serious condition Sunday after one was assaulted in a Candlestick Park bathroom and another two were shot in the parking lot at Saturday night’s 49ers-Raiders game, police said. Weekend killings raise San Francisco homicide toll to 15 so far this year
