Less than two weeks after the USF men’s basketball season ended in the first round of the CBI Tournament, the Dons received news that six players, including starters Michael Williams and Perris Blackwell, will not be returning next season, school sources confirmed.
Blackwell was an All-West Coast Conference honorable-mention selection as he averaged 12.7 points and 6.1 rebounds this season.

All-West Coast Conference and University of San Francisco junior guard Michael Williams has missed the past three games, but the Dons have not missed a beat, winning three in a row including a 79-69 win over Pacific on Saturday night.Williams has been out of action due to academic priorities, but is expected to return to play sometime this week.

At the West Coast Conference media day on Oct. 27, USF men’s basketball coach Rex Walters said all he wants to do is coach, recruit and schedule.
Although he didn’t have to recruit heavily this past season, he and his team are going into the 2011-12 season with a full head of steam.
The Dons collected 10 conference wins for the first time in nearly 20 years and finished third in the WCC, only one game behind conference powerhouses Gonzaga and St. Mary’s.
