Gifts showered down on Mayor Ed Lee last year, ranging from a $140 bottle of Dom Perignon to two tickets to the Davies Symphony Hall for $320. On Jan. 14, just days after his inauguration, Lee received his first gift of the year, a $50 box of Godiva Milk Chocolate Expressions from retired Diamond Heights resident Jo-Ann Butler. Poll: San Franciscans love their cops

A majority of city voters — 72 percent — view the San Francisco Police Department favorably, according to a February survey. Of the 500 voters surveyed, only 18 percent had an unfavorable view of the department, according to the annual CityBeat Poll. Last year, 73 percent of voters viewed the department favorably, and 16 percent unfavorably. The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce  hired David Binder Research to conduct the poll. Read More

Pier 27 preps for cruise terminal groundbreaking

A new cruise ship terminal in San Francisco – spurred by investment from the America’s Cup yacht race coming to The City over the next two years -- will be dedicated by Mayor Ed Lee Tuesday at 10 a.m.The new terminal at Pier 27 will be partially remade before the race events and finished completely in 2014, according to the Mayor’s Office.
