S.F.’s Shannon Rowbury moves into 1,500 semifinals

San Francisco’s Shannon Rowbury easily moved into the semifinals of the 1,500-meter race on Monday at the London Olympics after she turned in a solid time of 4 minutes, 06.03 seconds.Rowbury, who was the highest-qualifying American, finished seventh in her heat, but her time would have been fast enough to win either of the other two qualifying heats. LONDON — Former Cal swimmer Nathan Adrian claimed the title of the world’s fastest man on water when he won the 100-meter freestyle gold medal by a fingernail at the London Olympics on Wednesday.
