Snow delayed the start of the 6th annual Amgen Tour of California for the first time in its history, according to race officials.
The race, which was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday and would lead racers around Lake Tahoe, was delayed 2.5 hours until race officials called off the first stage due to weather.

Levi Leipheimer has been the mainstay in the Amgen Tour of California in its six years of existence and looks to reclaim the top spot in the fast-growing race in 2011.
Leipheimer lost his bid at a fourth straight Tour of California by 25 seconds last year, finishing third.
A couple months later, he finished eighth in the Tour de France.
