A shooting wounded two men in the Tenderloin on Wednesday afternoon just blocks from the Civic Center event where thousands of Giants fans were celebrating the team’s World Series win.

Just say no to thugs. A man was beaten with a metal bat for refusing to buy narcotics from pushers in the Tenderloin early Tuesday, police said.
The victim, a 47-year-old resident of the area, suffered a broken hand while trying to stave off the bat's blows in the 400 block of Leavenworth Street, San Francisco police Sgt. Daryl Fong said.
