Body found in canal where kidnapped boy discovered

A body matching the description of the man suspected of kidnapping a 4-year-old boy was found Saturday in a Central California canal, authorities said. The body was discovered around 8:30 a.m. in the Delta-Mendota Canal, near Patterson, by a water authority employee, the Stanislaus County sheriff's department said. Authorities pulled a kidnapping suspect's car from the bottom of a frigid Central California canal Friday, but the bodies of the suspect and the missing 4-year-old boy were not inside. Divers remove kidnapping victim's car from canal

Divers on Friday braved frigid water to recover the car of a kidnapping suspect from a tunnel some 50 feet below the surface of a Central California canal. Earlier in the day, searchers discovered the Toyota Corolla belonging to Jose Rodriguez, who is suspected of kidnapping 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas on Jan. 18.
