Back in 1959, Jack Hirose partnered with the Recreation and Park Department to become the Japanese Tea Garden concessionaire. While his official business concluded in 1992, he remained active in supporting the garden. On Aug. 18, the Rec and Park Commission unanimously approved of renaming the tea house the Jack Hirose Tea House, and will install a commemorative plaque at the site. Read More
