A 51-year-old man was found dead in his car at a Park & Ride lot off of Interstate Highway 280 near Redwood City early this morning, a San Mateo County deputy coroner said. No other cars were involved nor were there reports of a crash when California Highway Patrol authorities went to check on a disabled vehicle on the side of northbound I-280 at Edgewood Road just after midnight. A teenager was shot near AT&T Park early Monday morning, police said. The teenager was walking in the 200 block of King Street around 2 a.m. As he walked past a 4-door black Honda, a Hispanic man of unknown age got out of the vehicle and started yelling at the teenager, cops said. The northernmost stretch of Interstate 280 could be demolished and turned into an Octavia Boulevard-like parkway under options being considered by the California High-Speed Rail Authority.
The freeway currently ends around Fourth and King streets, near AT&T Park. But documents obtained by The San Francisco Examiner show it could be removed north of 22nd Street to accommodate high-speed rail, which is expected to travel through the Peninsula along Caltrain’s route. Read More
