BERKELEY — An upset loss to Utah cost the Cal men’s basketball team a higher seed in March Madness, but the Bears caught a break by snagging a game in their own backyard.   After back-to-back losses, Cal (20-11) landed a No. 12 seed in the East region of the NCAA Tournament. The Sharks continue their quest for their first victory in February today as their six-game road trip lands them in St. Louis to face the Blues. Tragedy drives Buscaglia to pursue Olympic dreams

Alex Buscaglia built a makeshift gymnasium in his parents’ unfinished basement as a child in Illinois. He’d stack up boxes and then do flips off them; sometimes, he’d wrap himself in a body cushion and summersault down the stairs.
