Muni bus, taxi collide outside Hall of Justice

A San Francisco Municipal Railway bus and a taxi collided outside The City’s Hall of Justice this morning.The crash happened at about 10 a.m. outside the building at 850 Bryant St. An officer at the scene said the cab driver had just come off of Interstate Highway 80 onto Bryant Street and was trying to make a right turn onto Gilbert Street when it cut off the bus. Man shoots, kills himself when confronted by police

A man shot and killed himself Wednesday evening outside the Hall of Justice after brandishing a handgun at officers and saying, "This isn't for you." Police responded about 5 p.m. to calls of a gun in the roadway at Harriet Street near Ahern Way, on the east side of police headquarters at the Hall of Justice, Sgt. Michael Andraychack said. The San Francisco Arts Commission unveiled the first restoration of its ArtCare initiative this morning outside of The City’s Hall of Justice building.Located at the corner of Seventh and Bryant streets, the 30-foot sculpture titled “Hall of Justice” by late San Francisco artist Peter Voulkos had “aged and weathered its fair share of vandalism,” said Interim Arts Director JD Beltran. Bayview residents can weigh in tonight on the search for a new police chief.The police commission is currently looking at applicants to possibly replace interim Chief Jeff Godown, who took over in January when former Chief George Gascon moved two floors down at the Hall of Justice to become district attorney.The commission has been holding meetings seeking input from the public on what kinds of qualities they’d like in a police chief.
