A homeless man allegedly shot by a store employee in the Haight following a dispute that began over a Chihuahua is suing the store’s owners, saying the incident left him permanently disabled.
Attorneys for Michael Stafford, who frequented Fred’s New Lite Market before the Feb. 9 shooting, filed the civil lawsuit in San Francisco Superior Court on April 6.

An apparently crabby cabbie beat and robbed a Haight-Ashbury woman after she disputed the taxi fare on Sunday, the woman told police.The woman said she was being dropped off at Scott and Haight streets around 5:10 a.m. when she told the taxi driver the fare wasn’t fair.She left the car and began walking away when the cabbie “chased her on foot, pushed her to the ground, beat her and took her wallet and keys,” police said.
