Police are investigating a fatal shooting in San Francisco's Bayview District this afternoon.
Officers responded at 3:43 p.m. to reports that a male victim had been shot in the 1100 block of Hudson Avenue, Officer Carlos Manfredi said.
The officers performed CPR on the victim until medics arrived and transported him to San Francisco General Hospital.
However, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, Manfredi said. Read More
A vehicle carrying three people, including a 71-year-old man, was hit by a bullet in the Sunnydale neighborhood on Tuesday, the second shooting in the area in as many days.
The victims, two men ages 50 and 71 and a 36-year-old woman, were driving eastbound in the 100 block of Blythedale Avenue, near Santos Street, when they saw two men in their 20s running toward them at about 6:30 p.m., police said. Read More

When Mark Barden walked his
7-year-old son Dan to the school bus Dec. 14, it would be the last time he saw his child alive. Later that day at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Dan was among the 20 first-graders who were fatally shot in one of the nation’s most gruesome school massacres.
Thursday marked the three-month anniversary of the shooting that has sparked a nationwide debate about gun safety. And Barden and his wife, Jackie, along with other parents who lost children that day, came to San Francisco to launch an initiative that aims to stop gun violence and improve mental health research through technological innovation.
“Lucky 13!” Capt. Paul Chignell declared at the top of Bayview Police Station’s newsletter released Monday. He wasn’t talking about the hip Market Street dive bar, but rather the number of guns confiscated by cops in the Bayview in the past 30 days.
