A man was pistol-whipped and locked inside the trunk of his car Tuesday after being robbed by gun-toting goons in the Bayview district, police said.
Luckily, the newer model four-door sedan’s trunk could be unlocked from the inside, enabling the 46-year-old to free himself and call police after the two thieves fled with his cash and cellphone.

Valuable items such as gems, a statue and a picture, along with cash, were stolen during a stun-gun stickup of a consignment store in the 3700 block of Mission Street near Bernal Heights, police said.

A pedestrian was struck head-on while crossing at Market and Church streets Wednesday, police said, and the driver fled the scene and left him for dead.
The victim, a 39-year-old man, suffered a life-threatening head injury after a dark-colored sedan struck him on Market Street just after midnight, police Officer Gordon Shyy said. The sedan was last seen driving north on Sanchez Street, Shyy said.

Police are searching for suspects in connection with a brutal attempted robbery in the Excelsior district last weekend that left a man with a facial bone fracture.
The 41-year-old victim, who asked not to be identified for fear of retaliation, said he’s lived in the neighborhood for 12 years and had never experienced such a vicious encounter.

Police are hunting for a heartless thief or thieves who last week burglarized a Bayview district nonprofit that serves low-income youths, making off with 15 laptops that contained the kids’ hard work in digital media arts.
The crooks apparently went to great lengths to pull off the heist. Police said they used ropes to rappel from a rooftop window to gain access to the second story of the warehouse building at 2415 Third St.

Fireworks lit up the night during Fourth of July celebrations in San Francisco — and later, so did gasoline and bullets.
About 1 a.m. Thursday, a teenager reported to police that he had been shot in the back while watching an illegal fireworks display at 14th and Shotwell streets in the Mission district. A pal drove the 18-year-old to San Francisco General Hospital, but the injury is not considered life-threatening, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

A South of Market man was awakened early Thursday by two crooks who claimed to be cops, police said.
The 39-year-old resident of the 500 block of Fourth Street called police after the suspects broke into his home just before 6 a.m. The door had been left unlocked, police said.
When the victim woke up, he asked the crooks what they were doing. They were apparently rummaging through his apartment, police Officer Gordon Shyy said Thursday. The suspects claimed to be cops.
