The Bay School boys’ basketball team largely accomplished its main objective on Tuesday against Gateway by limiting the Gators’ standout frontcourt with a stingy 2-3 zone, but the Breakers couldn’t limit it on defense.
The Gators held Bay to 26 percent shooting from the floor, and combined with 11 blocks, limited the Breakers to a season-low point total in their 50-34 Bay Counties League Central win.

Gateway High School came into its Bay Counties League Central showdown against Bay School on a 10-game winning streak. And with a considerable size advantage over the smaller Breakers, Gateway was looking to make a statement over the defending conference champions. But Bay had other ideas, as it forced Gateway into 20 turnovers while shooting 48 percent and rolled to a 67-44 victory Tuesday.

Every player dreams of hitting the last-minute shot to win the game.
For Bay School senior Madeline Spolin, that dream came true in the Bay Counties League Central girls’ soccer semifinals Tuesday at Crocker Amazon.
With the game tied 2-2 and time winding down, Bay’s Bayley McMillan broke free down the sideline and executed a crossing pass to Spolin, who sent the ball into the net to give Bay the lead in the 79th minute.
A few moments later, the whistle sounded.
