A 46-year-old man from Texas died while competing in the 33rd Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, according to race organizers.The man, whose name has not been released, is from Austin and is believed to have suffered a heart attack during the swim portion of the event, race organizers said in a released statement. Andy Potts returned to familiar ground Sunday as he reclaimed a spot atop the winner’s podium at the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.
Trimming two minutes off his time from last year’s third-place finish, Potts beat the two-hour mark and captured his fourth Escape victory in 1 hour, 59 minutes, 45 seconds.
