All lanes of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge reopened shortly after 3 p.m. today following a multi-vehicle crash that slowed westbound traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Preliminary reports indicate that six vehicles were involved in the accident, which happened on the upper deck of the bridge near Treasure Island, CHP Officer Marc Johnston said.

The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau has identified a man killed in a fiery drunk driving crash on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge early Sunday morning as 21-year-old Castro Valley resident Scott Leister.
The driver who allegedly caused the crash, a 22-year-old Fairfield man, did not appear to be injured and was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunken driving, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The California Highway Patrol has affixed ribbons to the antennas of their patrol vehicles this month to warn the public about the dangers of leaving children unattended in cars. The purple ribbons are in memory of children who have lost their lives because they were left in a car, including 6-month-old Kaitlyn Russell, who died from hyperthermia in 2000, the CHP said.
