The California Highway Patrol is seeking more information about a "sideshow" on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland on Saturday afternoon where participants were doing "doughnuts," a CHP sergeant said. The CHP received a call around 4 p.m. about reckless driving on northbound I-880 at Coliseum Way, CHP Sgt. Diana McDermott said. San Francisco man ID’d as motorcyclist who fled from officers

A motorcyclist who was arrested Tuesday after leading authorities on a pursuit across the Bay Bridge and then crashing in San  Francisco has been identified by the California Highway Patrol as 30-year-old Steven Stanford Jr. The crash was reported at 12:17 p.m. Tuesday at Fifth and Harrison streets in the South of Market neighborhood. Woman with DUI past accused in wild chase through San Francisco

A 23-year-old woman with three prior DUI convictions allegedly led the California Highway Patrol on a wild, drunken chase through the Mission district early Thursday, crashing twice and injuring a bicyclist. 17-year-old held in road attack on CHP

A 17-year-old boy believed to have been one of two people in a car that rammed and shot at a California Highway Patrol vehicle in Oakland earlier this summer was arrested in East Palo Alto on Wednesday, police said. The extended family of a California Highway Patrol officer who was shot Tuesday morning on southbound Interstate 680 after a traffic stop was notified in the evening that the officer is in critical condition at a Walnut Creek hospital, a CHP spokeswoman said. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding possibly several drivers who may have struck a San Francisco man on Interstate 280 in Daly City early Saturday and then left the scene of the deadly incident.The victim was identified by the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office as 27-year-old David Hanna.The incident was reported about 4:30 a.m. just north of Eastmoor Avenue on southbound I-280, the California Highway Patrol said.
