A Van Ness Avenue gas station attendant was reportedly attacked Friday by a transient who has apparently refused to bug off despite a court order to stay away from the area.
Just before 10 a.m., police said, 31-year-old Zachary Moreno was allegedly panhandling — like usual, according to the 29-year-old station attendant — at the Chevron near Van Ness Avenue and Pine Street.

Impoverished and dying, native people from Ecuador sued Chevron — which is based in the Bay Area — to force the company to clean up the environmental catastrophe its oil operations had left in the Amazonian jungle.
